học (Vietnamese)

Where does "học" come from?

The Vietnamese word "học" originates from the Chinese character "學," meaning to study or learn. It entered the Vietnamese language as an early Sino-Vietnamese loan, distinguishing itself from similar borrowings in Korean ("hak") and Japanese ("gaku"). This process reflects the deep historical exchange of vocabulary across East Asian cultures.
