сім (Ukrainian)
Where does "сім" come from?
The Ukrainian word 'сім' traces its origins back to the ancient Proto-Indo-European root *septḿ̥. It evolved through Proto-Balto-Slavic and Proto-Slavic as *sedmь before eventually shifting into its modern form. Interestingly, the underlying root is so ancient that scholars suggest it may have been a shared 'culture word' exchanged between early Indo-European and Semitic peoples thousands of years ago.
