літо (Ukrainian)
Where does "літо" come from?
The Ukrainian word 'літо' traces its roots back to the Proto-Indo-European term '*leh₁tóm', which referred to the 'warm part of the year'. Inherited into Proto-Slavic as '*lěto', it eventually evolved into the modern Ukrainian word that carries the dual meaning of both 'summer' and 'year'.
