wibu (Indonesian)
Where does "wibu" come from?
The Indonesian term 'wibu' is a direct borrowing of the English slang 'weeaboo.' Originally coined in a 2005 comic strip, the word gained mainstream traction on the message board 4chan as a playful replacement for the derogatory term 'wapanese' to describe someone excessively obsessed with Japanese culture.
