कमरा (Hindi)
Where does "कमरा" come from?
The Hindi word 'कमरा' (kamrā) traces its roots back to the Proto-Indo-European concept of bending or curving. The term traveled from the Ancient Greek 'kamárā', referring to a vaulted chamber, into Latin, and eventually into Portuguese as 'câmara'. It was later borrowed into Hindi during the period of Portuguese contact, eventually becoming the standard word for a room.
