Andalucía (Spanish)
Where does "Andalucía" come from?
The name Andalucía originates from the Arabic term al-Andalus, which was used to describe the Iberian Peninsula during the period of Muslim rule. As the region transitioned back under Christian control, this Arabic name was adapted into the Spanish language to denote the southern heartland of the territory. Today, it stands as the official name for one of the most culturally vibrant autonomous communities in Spain.
